The capital of this area, Manacor, is famous for its industrial activity, which has subsided somewhat in recent years -  particularly in the artificial pearl and leather goods sectors. Nonetheless, you shouldn’t miss visiting a pearl factory if you are in the Llevant: these artificial pearls, like the furniture you can find in Manacor, are part of the history of Mallorca, and in particular the Pla de Mallorca.

Places with particularly interesting landscapes in the Llevant include the Artà mountains, Cala Mesquida, Cap des Freu, Cala Torta, the towns of Artà and Capdepera and their castles and chapels.

On the Artà peninsula you will find the Llevant Natural Park, a protected area where you can admire the local flora and fauna, which are strictly protected by the community natural park regulations.
